The New York based luxury brand, Michael Angel, is a newly founded women"s ready to wear brand. The brand debuted with a small collection for Spring/Summer 2008 collection which was followed up by a runway collection during New York Fashion Week last February for Autumn/Winter 2008. The brand"s founder is Michael Angel who in addition to designing apparel is an artist and successful women"s wear stylist.
For the past five years, Michael Angel has devoted himself to the creation of both digital and manual artwork, depicting his view of the world. For his first season, Michael brought to life a series of these images through translating his favorite pieces into unique, high fashion garments. The debut of the Michael Angel Collection for Spring 2008 passionately depicts his view of the modern woman strong and self aware. She is excited about her future, yet relishes in the present day.
For his debut collection, silk was used as the primary fabric as a means to represent the fluidity and movement of life, as well it"s ever changing emotions and stages. Gathering and pleating techniques allowed Michael to achieve this by distorting the images he had grown so familiar with. Experimenting with the way the art translated differently to each different garment, a process that took him two years to perfect, only allowed his style to further evolve.
Since the debut of his collection, Michael Angel has generated an immediate buzz in the press, fashion, and art worlds alike. The blending of textures and colors create uniqueness in his pieces that reflect an undeniable energy. A notable example of press interest in the brand was a story in the September 08 issue of American Vogue where Michael Angel was featured as a new upcoming designer to watch, in the section The View ".

Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Michael always had an immense passion and talent for fine art. By the age of 18, Michael had accepted the position of Senior Visual and Creative supervisor for SABA, Australia"s premiere and world renowned department store. For eight years, he lent his visual and creative talents to the company through organizing runway shows and pitching successful marketing campaigns. His hard work and impact on the company did not go unnoticed he has since been credited with completely revitalizing the brand and greatly elevating it"s success. Over the coming years, Michael went on to gain recognition as the Style Director for Melbourne Fashion Week, and the L"Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. With over 10 years of international styling experience, he has also secured a reputation as a top stylist to many influential celebrities and campaigns. With the knowledge and talent gained through the years, Michael decided to finally pursue his lifelong goal of creating a fashion line.
