
Born in Paris in 1956 to a Vietnamese father and a French mother, Barbara Bui enters the fashion world in 1983 by opening the boutique Kabuki on the rue de Turbigo in Paris. The designer slowly launches into fashion world by selling her own designs.
1987. First fashion show presentation of the full collection to international press and buyers. The brand Barbara Bui is born.
1988. The first Barbara Bui boutique opens on the rue Etienne Marcel in Paris and is met with formidable and immediate success on an international scale.
The combination of elegance and a rock"n"roll attitude, revealing freedom and self confidence, quickly seduces the contemporary woman.
1998. Barbara Bui enters the stock market.
Bui creates Initials Barbara Bui, a secondary line of separates designed to complement the spirit of the principal line. The special emphasis on the trousers, androgynous and feminine, establishes a wide and loyal following.
Opening of the Barbara Bui Cafe on the rue Etienne Marcel.
1999. Barbara Bui holds her first fashion show in New York and opens her first boutique in the heart of Soho. Other important openings include the Avenue Montaigne boutique in Paris and the Via Manzoni in Milan.
2000. Barbara Bui launches her first luxury accessories collection of shoes and bags, enhancing the success of the brand.
The house develops the brand"s image and notoriety through advertising campaigns with high profile fashion photographers including David Bailey.
2003. Bui is launched, oriented towards a refined casual attitude.
Barbara Bui is unanimously elected as a member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Francaise et des Createurs de Mode È and returns to the runways during the Paris Fashion Week.
2004. Launch of the first perfume Barbara Bui Le Parfum; discrete, intimate and caressing sensuality , offered in a pure transparent bottle.
